Ransiki

Ransiki is the chief town of South Manokwari, an Indonesian regency created in 2013, twenty-one inhabitants per square kilometre. The town sits at forty metres, 1 506 millimetres of rain fall there each year and the mean temperature is 26.8 degrees. Above, Mount Arfak rises to 2 955 metres, the high point of the peninsula called Doberai, or Kepala Burung, bird's head. All of this is east of Lydekker's line, which follows the edge of the Sahul shelf and separates Australian fauna from Asian fauna. In the Arfak Mountains reserve, twenty-five kilometres from Manokwari, one hundred and ten mammal species have been recorded: tree kangaroos, bandicoots, cuscuses. The cacao grove, for its part, is on the plain, under fifty metres.
